 About the Planning Department

The Planning Department conducts a broad range of community development and planning activities for the Town of Bourne. The Department also assists the Planning Board, an elected body, by reviewing development plans including commercial site plans and subdivisions.

 About the Planning Board

The Planning Board consists of nine elected members with 3-year terms and two appointed alternate members.
They are responsible for reviewing commercial projects, subdivisions of land and updating the Zoning Bylaws and Subdivision Regulations.
The Board meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month at 7:00pm at the Bourne Veteran's Memorial Community Building, 239 Main Street, Buzzards Bay.

Here's what you need to bring with you when you apply:

  • Application completed in BLACK pen - no crossouts - DO NOT SIGN!! ;-)
  • Certified Birth Certificate from the Town or State where you were born or previously valid US passport
  • 1 Photo - AAA, CVS, or any place that does Passport Photos
  • Driver's License (2nd form of ID if issued/renewed less than 6 months ago). Out of state ID's require a 2nd photo ID.
  • 2 checks - we are unable to accept credit cards or cash at this location
  • All applicants need to be present to apply.

FEES: 

Adult: Book (good for 10 years) - $110, Card - $30, Both - $140

Child (under 16 - good for 5 years) Book - $80, Card - $15, Both - $95

  There is a $25 per passport processing fee (separate check)

OPTIONAL ADDITIONAL FEES:

Expedited Service (guaranteed return 2-3 weeks) - $60

Overnight Delivery - $12.72

HOUSING REHAB PROGRAM

Bourne has begun it's first Housing Rehabilitation Program - The Town was awarded $900,000 for housing rehab in Bourne's Downtown. The program will allow the rehab of approximately 15 homes and a new roof for the Continental  Apartments.
