Approval of Minutes

MOTION by Selectman Tirrell and SECONDED by Selectman Covell the minutes of January 21, 2003 be approved as presented.

UNANIMOUS VOTE (4-0)

Chairman Grady stated that Selectman Locke would not be attending tonight’s meeting due to a death in the family.

Correspondence

Selectman Tirrell went over the correspondence that was received.

Representatives Susan Williams-Gifford and Jeffrey Perry

Chairman Grady welcomed the new representatives.

Representative Perry went over the 9c cuts that Governor Romney will be making, committees that he has been assigned and offered his assistance to the town.

Representative Gifford went over the committees she is a member of and expressed that she will assist the town on any issues.

Discussion was held on state and local issues.

Town Administrator went over the funds that are received from the state and the impact on the Town if not received.

Finance Director Interview

The Town Administrator went over the process that was used to select the new Finance Director.

Lynne A. Burchill went over her work experience, goals and answered questions from the Board.

MOTION by Selectman Covell and SECONDED by Selectman Zuern to accept the recommendation of the Town Administrator and move to have the Board appoint Lynne A. Burchill Finance Director.

UNANIMOUS VOTE (4-0)

Fiscal 2004 Budget Message

Town Administrator made a power point presentation of the 2004 budget.

Licenses:

    1. Daily Brew Coffee House - Live Entertainment

MOTION by Selectman Tirrell and SECONDED by Selectman Covell to approve the Live Entertainment (soft unplugged music by local artists; guitar, harp, violin, possible kid stories and poetry) for the Daily Brew Coffee House in Cataumet with the condition that they do comply with the Fire Department’s request for a posted occupancy in concert with the Building Inspector.

UNANIMOUS VOTE (4-0)

Selectmen Reports

Selectmen Covell commented on the new Community Center meeting room and ISWM.

Selectman Tirrell spoke on the Capital Outlay Committee and the Main Street Revitalization Project.

Selectman Zuern commented on Natural Resource Trustee Council, Impact Area Response Team and the Senior Management Board meetings.

Town Administrator Reports

There was no report.

Public Comment

Lucia Fulco of Cataumet commented on the appointment of the Finance Director, the Town Administrator's budget presentation and the town clerk position.

MOTION by Selectman Tirrell and SECONDED by Selectman Covell to adjourn.
