Chairman
Mealy asked Selectman Zuern, former chair, to lead the discussion on the Rating
Sheet Composite and the Narrative Summary
Thomas
Guerino then thanked the Board for the time and consideration spent on the
review. He felt the rating of middle level COMMENDABLE was fair. He said the
comments in the Narrative-Summary were constructive. He mentioned he will be
spending more time on long term planning and improve his written documentation.
Selectwoman Conron discussed
revising the evaluation document and setting up a schedule to periodically
check in on the evaluation process. She also noted that the Administrator was
improving in his ability to offer professional advice to the Board.
Vice
Chairman Sloniecki commented that he would like to see the Town Administrator
delegate more tasks and spend more time on long term planning. He also agreed
that the evaluation document needs to be revised.
Selectwoman
Zuern commented that progress on the yearly goals should be included in the
rating sheet when it is revised. She felt there should be less questions and
the rating scale should be adjusted. She expressed her concern regarding the
lack of progress on a few of the goals this past year and suggested that the
Town Administrator use his time more effectively and delegate more.
Chairman
Mealy commented on the problem caused by the Town Administrator's mistake on
the override article for the elementary school and said that had an influence
on his ratings. He also agreed to revising the evaluation document and that the
Town Administrator could use his time more effectively.
Selectmen
Ford commented on the rating scale needing adjustment. Selectmen Ford joined
the Board in April 07 and therefore did not participate in the evaluation which
was completed in March.
Selectwoman
Conron asked the Town Administrator how the Selectmen could be of help to the
Town Administrator. He responded by asked the Selectmen to try to get their
questions regarding agenda items to him ahead of time so that he can be
prepared to answer them fully at the meetings.
