Meeting Called to Order

Meeting reconvened in Open Session at 7:10 pm.

Announcements

Several announcements were made of upcoming events.

 

Public Comment – Non-Agenda Items

None at this time.

 

Correspondence

Selectman Sloniecki reviewed the correspondence.  All correspondence is on file in the Town Administrator’s Office.

 

Last week’s correspondence - TA Guerino noted the town paid for some of the pipe line replacement at Tobey Island, therefore the town has now met it’s obligation for any reimbursement.

 

TA Guerino commented on the Fire Study and a preliminary meeting will be held on April 16, 2008.

 

April 11, 2008 correspondence - Q – Selectman Ford asked correspondence not signed be so noted on the correspondence list.

 

Selectman Ford stated he would attend the Municipal Licensing Group holding meeting on May 6, 2008.

 

Alternative Energy Committee (certificate of vote on new name and charge)

Deferred to next week.

 

Brendan R. MacGregor – Life Scout – Picture Lake Project

$3,155 currently has currently been raised, of which an additional $1,495 is still needed.  Volunteers for raking, installing plants and many other landscaping jobs are needed for Sat. May 10, 2008 and Sat. June 7, 2008.  Call (508) 563-9752 for further information.

 

TA Guerino noted for the record the Board should commend Brendan MacGregor for his work. 

 

Licenses and Appointments

  1. Sagamore Beach Colony Club – One Day Liquor

Selectman Ford MOVED and SECONDED by Selectman Zuern to approve One Day Liquor License for Sagamore Beach Colony Club for Comedy Night Annual Fundraiser for club members only (per Board of Health) on August 2, 2008 from 6:00 pm – 12:00 midnight.  VOTE 3-0.

 

  1. Melloni Bike Ride

Selectman Ford MOVED and SECONDED by Selectman Zuern to approve Charity Bike Ride for the Dick Melloni Youth Foundation on September 14, 2008 at 8:40 am – 12:40 pm.  VOTE 3-0.

 

  1. Lazy Sundaes Ice Cream – Common Victualer

Selectman Ford MOVED and SECONDED by Selectman Zuern to approve Food License for Lazy Sundaes Ice Cream in Cataumet (formerly Lazy Sundaes Ice Cream & Smoothies) per Board of Health and Fire Department both requesting inspection prior to opening.  VOTE 3-0.

 

  1. Temporary Easement – Nstar/Verizon New England (for school related work)

Selectman Zuern MOVED and SECONDED by Selectman Ford to approve temporary easement off Ernest Valeri Road to allow all utility companies to work for school related work.  VOTE 3-0.    TA Guerino noted this will appear in either in the Fall Town Meeting or next Town Meeting for finalization.

 

  1. Bourne Taxi – request for second vehicle

Selectman Ford MOVED and SECONDED by Selectman Zuern to approve second vehicle for the Bourne Taxi Company for a Chevrolet Caprice wagon per Planning Board/Building Inspector (no more than two vehicles on property); Board of Health (no licensing or inspections needed by BOH); Police Department (will meet with Sgt. Farrell for inspection of vehicle); and Fire Department (no repairs on site).  VOTE 3-0.

 

Other Selectmen Business

a.  Sign Warrant for Special & Annual Town Meeting

Selectman Ford MOVED and SECONDED by Selectman Zuern to sign Warrant for Special Town Meeting Warrant and Annual Town Meeting on May 5, 2008.  VOTE 3-0.

 

Selectmen’s Report

Selectman Zuern and Selectman Ford both attended dress rehearsal for the MMA Academy.  Selectman Zuern also attended the Beauty and the Beast performance as well as the Council on Aging fundraiser.

 

Selectman Sloniecki will attend the fundraiser for youth basketball.  He also noted the Baseball Parade will be on April 26, 2008 at 10:00 am.

 

Discussion on the Noise Bylaw public hearing next Tuesday.

 

J. Mulvey commented on unsigned letter re: Buzzards Bay Water District and wages of employees.  He also stated that the Water Districts have no financial ties to the town.
