Can I have a fire or charcoal grill on the beach?

The short answer is no unless both of the following conditions are met:

  • The beach area is privately owned with permission of the owner
  • The fire is started and maintained for cooking purposes, constantly attended by someone at least eighteen years of age and is set upon sandy or gravelly land free from living or dead vegetation and enclosed within rocks, metal or other noncombustible material
