Knox Box Program

Knox Box

Rapid entry to a home during a medical emergency is crucial.

What is a residential Knox Box?

Knox Boxes are high-security key safes that provide first responders access to your home in emergencies when people inside are unable to open the door or are not in the house.

Bourne Fire/Rescue and Emergency Services coordinates with the Bourne Council on Aging to provide a residential Knox box loaner program. A Knox box is a key safe that the Fire Department secures to your front door. We lock your home’s key inside the safe and the only key that will access the safe is possessed by Bourne/Fire Rescue and Emergency Services.  In an emergency, we open the safe and use your key to gain entry. This program saves time, eliminates the need for us to force entry, and possibly damage a door or window. The supply of these safes is limited however if you are interested please contact the Bourne Council on Aging at (508) 759-0600 extension 5300.

Also, if you would like to purchase your own residential Knox box, you can find more information here: Knox HomeBox.
