Education / Scholarship Committee

The Town of Bourne Education/Scholarship Committee utilizes donations from the residents of Bourne, primarily submitted with their tax payments.  The funds go to two separate accounts, one for scholarships and one for educational mini-grants. The number and amount of scholarships is decided yearly by the committee, based on the available funds.  Applicants must be a legal resident of Bourne and accepted at an accredited educational institution that offers an undergraduate degree program for post-secondary school students.  The recipients are determined by a committee of teachers, guidance counselors and one Education/Scholarship Committee member.  The education mini grants, open to all Bourne School System staff, are designed to foster creativity and allow staff members to reach beyond the limitations of the annual budget.  Applications are sent via email to all Bourne Schools staff up to two times yearly, depending on available funding. Usually, a maximum of four grants, not exceeding $500 are awarded by a committee vote annually.
