To the Editor,
On behalf of the Professional Firefighters of Bourne (Local 1717) I would like to thank all the residents and businesses that contributed to our annual “Homeless for the Holidays” food and toy drive. The event ran from December 12th-16th and all donations collected went to the Bourne Food Pantry and the Toys for Tots program.
During our 103 hours, we collected over $11,000 in cash donations, over 1200 lbs of non-perishable food and approximately 2,000 toys. Because of your generosity and that of the countless local businesses that contributed in many ways, we have all made the holiday season brighter for needy families in our area.
I must mention a few businesses that have supported us since the inception of the Bourne Firefighter’s “Homeless for the Holidays” food and toy drive. Our event would not succeed without their continued support: Mezza Luna Restaurant, PIXY 103 Radio (especially radio personality Matty B), The Bourne Department of Public Works, Upper Cape Electrical, Silva Firewood, Griffin Steel, Hillcrest Landscape Supply, Roby’s Propane Gas Inc., Party Cape Cod Inc., Buzzard Bay Water District, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, N-Star, Nick’s Pizza, Bousefield Sanitary Service, Pizza Boy, Buzzards Bay Eagles and the Buzzards Bay House of Pizza.
To all that took the time to stop by and make a donation, thank you. We wish everyone a happy and healthy holiday season and New Year.
Sincerely,
Craig Poirier
