Established by Massachusetts General Law chapter 161B in 1976, the Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority is charged with developing financing, and contracting the operation of mass transportation throughout Barnstable County. Its main hub and base of operations is located at the Hyannis Transportation Center.
The CCRTA provides door-to-door, ride by appointment, transportation service, known as Dial-A-Ride. In 2012, the CCRTA added scheduled fixed route service that connects people to all Bourne villages and allows citizens to transfer via other routes to all points on Cape Cod.
