Recycling Committee

The mission of the Bourne Recycling Committee is to educate, support and promote sustainable waste practices town wide for both residents and visitors.

The Recycling Committee’s goals are to:

• Increase public awareness for recycling and solid waste disposal.

• Educate the community on reducing, reusing and recycling.

• Protect the environment especially Bourne’s coastal ecosystem.

• Engage community involvement for a litter-free Bourne.

The Recycling Committee consists of seven members appointed by the Select Board to serve three-year terms. The members are joined in this work by liaisons from the Integrated Solid Waste Management department, Select Board, Department of Public Works, and local non-profit groups.

Why Recycle?

  • Reduces the amount of waste and extends the life of our landfill
  • Conserves natural resources such as timber, water, and minerals
  • Prevents pollution caused by reducing the need to collect new raw materials
  • Saves energy
  • Reduces greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to global climate change
  • Helps sustain the environment for future generations
