Emergency Medical Services (EMS)

Ambulance 133

Bourne Fire/Rescue and Emergency Services strives to deliver the highest quality pre-hospital advanced life support for our citizens. All full-time personnel are cross-trained fire service professionals who are either nationally or state-certified paramedics or Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs).  Presently there are 32 certified paramedics and 9 EMTs.

All of the ambulances are licensed at the advanced life support (ALS) level.  Our fleet consists of four Class III ambulances that transport patients to hospitals and three of our fire engines are licensed as Class V ambulances.  These fire engines carry ALS equipment which allows crews to administer the most appropriate medical care until a transporting ambulance arrives on scene.

The Massachusetts Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS) certifies EMS personnel, licenses ambulance services, and regulates EMS in Massachusetts.

Emergency medical incidents and trauma account for approximately 70% of the department’s total call volume.
