11/12/2020

SAGAMORE PROPANE INCIDENT

At approximately 5:30 pm on Wednesday, November 11, 2020, Bourne Fire/Rescue and Emergency services crews responded to the AmeriGas property on Freighthouse Road in Sagamore for a propane leak. The first arriving crews confirmed an active leak on the property and requested additional resources. Two other Bourne Fire/Rescue units, Sandwich Fire Department, Bourne Police, and the District 1 Hazardous Materials Response Team responded to the scene. Fire crews and hazardous materials team members worked with AmeriGas staff to stabilize the leak. Crews contained the leak to the property, and there was no threat to the adjoining neighborhoods.

A Bourne Fire/Rescue engine company remained on location throughout the night. There will be an increase in activity again this morning as fire department, hazardous materials, and AmeriGas personnel continue operations to further mitigate the leak.

In addition to Sandwich Fire Department, crews from Falmouth and Plymouth Fire Departments and Wareham Emergency Medical Services provided station coverage.
